Care Guide

Hook Up is built to handle the outdoors, but like anything exposed to the elements, regular maintenance keeps it looking looking and performing as good as the day you installed it.

Cleaning Frequency Recommendations:

The table below outlines our recommended cleaning frequency based on environmental conditions:

Environment Type

Conditions

Cleaning Frequency

Low Exposure

Low salt, low pollutant, urban/inland environments

At least every 12 months

Moderate Exposure

Sea shore (medium sea spray zones), offshore islands, geothermal areas within 500m of source, or near swimming pools.

At least every 6 months

High Exposure / Industrial

Sea shore (high sea spray zones), surf beaches, offshore islands, or industrial areas with high pollution/corrosivity areas

At least every 3 months

Cleaning steps:

Based on the recommended cleaning frequency above follow these simple steps to clean your Hook Up safely and effectively:

1. Carefully remove any loose surface deposits with a wet sponge or soft cloth gently rubbing.

2. Clean by gently rubbing the surface with a soft brush (non-abrasive No steel wool or harsh scrubbing) and a dilute solution of a mild detergent, e.g. pH-neutral liquid hand or dishwashing detergent in warm water to remove dust, salt and other deposits. For stubborn stains use only recommended solvents on the affected area, e.g. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or methylated spirits and rinse off with clean water.

3. Rinse the surfaces with clean fresh water after cleaning to remove all residues.

Things to avoid:

For best results and long-term durability, avoid the following:

  • For powder coated finishes do not use turpentine, white spirits, thinners, kerosene, citrus-based cleaners, insect sprays, or other aggressive solvents
  • Do not excessively rub powder-coated surfaces, especially metallic finishes
  • Avoid handling with sunscreen on hands, as some formulations can affect powder-coated finishes
  • Do not neglect regular cleaning and maintenance schedules
  • For Powder coated finsihes avoid scratches and surface damage as they can compromise the protective finish and reduce corrosion resistance over time. Exposure to coastal environments if damaged may may reduce lifespan.

A little care goes a long way, preventing dirt and salt build-up will keep your Hook Up looking sleek for years to come.
