Brad Good - Designer (Designed February 2025)
Brad brings a background in Industrial Design, metal fabrication, and production, with a passion for bringing ideas to life. What began as a garden hose sprawled across the ground, posing a tripping hazard around the side of the house, highlighted the need for a solution that was both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Brad sought a design that didn't require drilling into the walls of our rental house and was free from plastic materials. Many prototypes later metal scraps were turned into the Hook Up Original which quickly turned into a successful marketplace sale, revealing a clear need for Hook Up solutions.
Renee's background is in fashion design, product development, and product management. She manages everything from initial concept through to order fulfilment and keeps everyone in the loop on what's happening at Hook Up HQ. When Brad's creating, Renee's the realist making sure it actually makes it to market.
As the founders and Directors of Hook Up Designs, we have some serious excitement about Hooking Up Garden Hoses. We are united by our shared passion for design that is both functional and intentional. We first met in an entrepreneurship class in University and after years of collaboration and support, we’re now partners in life and in launching our small business together. Together we create considered products that combine creative innovation with practical functionality designed for everyday use. As hands-on founders, we’re involved in every step from concept and production to shipping. We ensure every piece reflects our dedication to quality and purpose. We are proud that Hook Up Designs is a New Zealand-based brand born in Wanaka, specialising in creating innovative, practical solutions that Hook Up items around your house.
We craft each Hook Up product in small batches here in Wanaka, prioritising quality over quantity and using materials built to stand the test of time. Every piece reflects our belief that design should be simple with purpose in every detail. We’re driven by the idea that functionality should never come at the cost of good design or the planet. We believe functional things should also be well-designed. Not as a luxury, just as a standard. If something's going on your house, it should look like it belongs there. And we’re proud to create products that not only look good but do good, supporting local craftsmanship and production every step of the way.
